The Berlin Recital Extended

In 2023 Deutsche Grammophon celebrates a wonderful milestone: its 125th birthday. To mark the occasion the Yellow Label makes a selection of LPs available on vinyl for the first time ever.

12 LPs for 12 months of celebrations.

Including legendary recordings by Daniil Trifonov, Hélène Grimaud, Hilary Hahn, Jan Lisiecki and many others.

Russian romanticism and timeless late 20th-century miniatures occupy Yuja Wang in her solo recital album. Yuja Wang’s philosophy of music is both simple and profoundly complex. “I want to relate all life to music,” she says. The Beijing-born pianist’s album captures the white heat of solo works by Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Scriabin and Ligeti, a trio of Russians together with one of the late 20th-century’s greatest composers. The Berlin Recital was recorded live at the Berlin Philharmonie’s Kammermusiksaal during Yuja’s extensive solo tour of North America and Europe. This vinyl also includes her sublime series of Berlin encore pieces, which spans everything from the riffs and roulades of Nikolai Kapustin’s jazz-tinged Toccatina to Earl Wild’s sonorous transcription of the Pas de Quatre from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
