Non Fiction - Piano Concerto in Four Movements

Hania Rani is a multi-award-winning composer and pianist who moves effortlessly between the worlds of classical and experimental music.
Recorded at Abbey Road Studios with a 45-piece orchestra, Non Fiction marks a new chapter in Rani's career as she moves from the electronic sounds of her acclaimed album Ghosts into the symphonic realm, bridging her elegant experimentalism with her classical training.
Non Fiction is Rani's first piano concerto and symphonic work, created in part as a response to the discovery of compositions by the young musical prodigy Josima Feldschuh, written during the horrors of World War II in the Warsaw Ghetto. Moved by the young girl's story, Rani decided to view it through the lens of the current horrific situations in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip and to examine how we perceive them through modern media. In doing so, Rani explores the constant coexistence of harmony and disorder, creating a sonic metaphor for the survival of the human spirit in the face of violence and using the emotional value of sounds to make these somewhat distant conflicts more comprehensible to us on a human level.

Tracklist:

1.    I. Sonore - Animato - Meno Mosso
2.    II. Teneroso - Presto - Cantabile
3.    III. Misterioso
4.    IV. Semplice
