Geza Anda: Complete DG Recordings (Ltd. Edit.)
GĂ©za Anda, whose career started late in the 1950s, became an international star on the piano after he helped out on a concert for a sick pianist â Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. For the most part of his sadly too-short career Anda was a Deutsche Grammophon artist and left, compared to other pianists, a small but important legacy on this label. His Mozart piano concerto cycle was the first one which was conducted by the soloist from the piano and is still one of the best-selling cycles. Included are recordings with Herbert von Karajan (live from Salzburg) and Ferenc Fricsay with whom he also recorded the Beethoven Triple Concerto together with Wolfgang Schneiderhan and Pierre Fournier. This limited edition also features the first CD release of some rare shellack recordings of music by Bach/Bussoni, Scarlatti and Brahms.
