For Arvo
*SHOP EXCLUSIVE*Â
Limited art card with photo of Arvo PĂ€rt & Georgijs Osokins
Latvian pianist Georgijs Osokins dedicates his debut album for Deutsche Grammophon to Estonian composer Arvo PĂ€rt. Entitled 'For Arvo', the album is a tribute to Baltic piano culture and the composer's timeless music, celebrating his 90th birthday on 11 September 2025.
In addition to original works for piano, the album contains Osokin's own  transcriptions of central PÀrt compositions such as 'Fratres', 'Pari intervallo' and 'Fragile e conciliante' that underline Osokins' musical integrity and his deep engagement with the works.
With this programme, Georgijs Osokins explores âthe hidden relations between different pieces in PĂ€rtâs piano output,â and thus spans the period from PĂ€rt's early compositions to his signature Tintinnabuli style. âI wanted to capture the very moment of the composerâs revelation â from complex contemporary avant-garde through to pure, luminous and enigmatic beauty and simplicity,â explains Osokins. The works were recorded on a blue Steinway grand piano that is over 100 years old, whose overtone-rich sound lends the album an unmistakable atmosphere.
âThis album is a declaration of my deep love for Arvo and his music,â says Georgijs Osokins.
