Wagner: Tristan & Isolde

The Bayreuth Festival's annual new production is one of the most eagerly awaited events in the world of opera. Icelandic director Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson made his Bayreuth debut in 2024 with the staging of Wagner's groundbreaking work “Tristan und Isolde” and was celebrated for his poignant interpretation as well as for the great cast with Andreas Schager and Camilla Nylund as fateful lovers.

Under the direction of conductor Semyon Bychkov, the choir and orchestra of the Bayreuth Festival gave exceptional performances. The New York Times praised how Bychkov “[relished] key moments to guide the audience’s emotions as commandingly as Wagner intended. At times, the passion was tidal; at others, teeming with anticipation.”

The 2-disc Blu-ray video set contains this extraordinary performance and the resulting unique sound experience in 3 sound formats, including Dolby Atmos, an extensive booklet with photos, a conversation between director, conductor and dramaturge about the work and production as well as the synopsis. It will be available in time for this year's festival start.
